Kimono Coat and Hakama

The organza kimono coat is complete and just getting started on the hakama pants. I totally love the red fabric I got for the pants; non-wrinkle a designer's best friend (^u^)

Saturday Night FUN!

For line this year, I really wanted to play around with my fabric. I asked Morgan MacCallum if she could help me out with this project. Morgan is a surfacing student working in dying and designing pattern on many different surfaces. Also she modelled for me last year (pink dress) and she's modelling for me this year (she's summer).

This is Morgan demonstrating Shibori dying technique.

Here is the silk boiling getting cleaned. This will be used in Winter's kimono, you'll see more of that on a later date.

This is the cotton we're dying, it's going to be use for Autumn's happi coat. Right now, it's taking a salt water bath.

This is measuring area for dye, it's underneath a fume hood. These are serious chemicals that we are working with here. As in, if you breath this stuff in, there a VERY good chance of get cancer.

Finally the dye and sealant are place into the bath and let everything soak in.

I feel like the centre of this look like rose.

Winter Kimono Over-Coat

Sorry for posting this late, I was busy with other work. I should mansion this now then later, my posts are going to vary during March and April with the Fashion show getting closer. Some weeks, no post and some weeks with multiple posts.

Here is my kimono over-coat and it looks awesome. Up close, the crunched organza looks just like frost. This is one of my classmates having fun and showing off the over-coat.

Mock-ups and Cutting

This week, I totally finish my Spring mock-up; which means I am finished all my mock-ups. In the picture I'm testing out the hoop skirt to see how much wire I need; also it's pretty fun to wear a hoop skirt.

I also started cutting out fabric to start sewing.
This is Winter's kimono overcoat. The fabric is a type of crinkle organza, it gives it a frost look.

Fabric

These are two of the four seasons here and there's still a lot of fabric I need to get.
Some of the fabric going to have some surface work done on it. Until I get the rest of the fabric and treat it, I can't tell you what's what right now.
